Why Sarah wants to be a voice for children fighting cancer:

I want to be a voice for children fighting cancer because I have experienced firsthand what it is like to lose someone you love due to cancer. Last month, an 11-year-old from my studio, Ariella Stein, passed away from Ewing’s Sarcoma. The news came as a shock to everyone, as we had all just been informed that she was declared NED a few weeks prior. As I am in college now, it is hard for me to feel as though I can still be heavily involved with my home studio, as I can only go visit and help out during my school breaks. However, I am passionate about fighting for children who have to face this terrible disease and am aware now more than ever that it can affect anybody at any time. After experiencing this horrible loss and seeing the dance community come together to support the Stein family, it has become clear to me that these children need more funding and more attention. 4% is simply not close to enough to the amount of attention these children deserve in cancer research. I am hopeful that one day, the statistics of children who pass away from cancer is severely reduced. I hope that I can help this become true in any way possible.
